So this morning the body work me up a little earlier than I expected… 7:30am on a Sunday is hardly right but hey I was awake and the bike was calling… A quick ride to Miss Marmalade Brunswick to try out their breakfast.
As the morning was still quite cool the bike ride from Clifton Hill to Brunswick as very quiet and easy going. Plenty of bike tracks and it’s clear that weekend bikes and brunch is definitely a “thing” here in Melbourne.
I arrived around 8:30 and there were plenty of tables available, the corner I was offered had a great view of the street with plenty of cushions, a nice change from my bike seat.
Service here was ok… Lots of people moving about but didn’t seem to notice my indications of wanting to place an order. Guy who delivered my coffee looked confused when I asked to order so managed to find someone who found someone else… Was this place originally government run?
Pictured above is my brunch from the specials board… Poached eggs, smoked salmon, bacon, hollandaise, greens and sun dried tomatoes.
Sadly the eggs were overcooked with only a spot of runny yolk. Bacon ended out being thinly sliced ham that was hidden under the salmon… Still kinda trying to work that one out.
Meal was ok but I don’t feel they were putting on their A game.
Flat white was fine but not the sort of coffee I would quoff about to my Sydney partner when I talk about how good Melbourne coffee is. Ho hum.
Payment was also kinda confusing… Said to staff member “I’d like to pay”, fairly straight forward I know… Her response “Huh? You want what?”. Ended out saying “I’d like to give you money for the food I ate”… The penny eventually dropped.
Next time I am going to check out Sweet Evelyn that is next door.
